I need some help following the 1st Choctaw and Chickasaw Mtd Rifles and then the Choctaw & Chickasaw Battalion. I find the Choctaw and Chickasaw Battalion on the organization reports in Oct 1864 and Dec 1864, commanded by Lt Col James Riley.

In Jan 1864, Maxey writes to Kirby Smith that "Lieut. Col. James Riley, First Choctaw and Chickasaw Regiment, with five companies, is posted at Lennox Mission,". Is this all of the 1st C&C at this time and later designated as a battalion? (Lennox Mission was northeast of present Talihina, between Lennox Ridge and the Kiamichi River.)

I'm trying to locate all the companies of the 1st C&C in early 1864. In the first organization, co. A was Capt Adam Nail's company. Nail is succeeded by Capt Wm Pitchlynn, who Cooper lists as a captain at Chusto Talasah (Dec 9, 1861). Enlisted July 8, 1861. Reenlisted July 4, 1862 for two years. Did this company still exist in early 1864? Was it one of the five with Riley at Lennox Mission?

I think Capt Adam Nail died in late 1861 or at least by early 1862 and Pitchlynn was promoted to replace him.
