Canyon Springs (Deadman) was located right on the Dragoon Trail. The Trail went south, staying about a mile east of the Blue until the Trail crossed the Blue at Milburn, and then on south to Fort Washita. The fort sets on a ledge (and edge) of the same limestone formation. Interestingly, 100 miles to the east of Fort Washita sat old Fort Towson, also on a ledge (and edge) of the same limestone formation.
