I have reason to believe that the 13th Cavalry CSA that you refer to in your post in actually the 13th/16th Battalion Georgia Cavalry. My GG Grandfather, George Cornelius Vandiver (Vandivere) served in the 13th Georgia Cavalry and is mentioned in the book, The History of Morgan's Cavalry by Basil Duke several times as the "Georgians".

Records that I have viewed also show that the 13th/16th Battalion of Georgia Cavalry was at the Battle of Cynthina, Tenn. and could well have been "Devil" John Wright's unit.

Morgan had quite a few "irregular" units that served with him on his 1st raid. It is my understanding that many men who were actually "bushwackers" served with Morgan when he passed thru the mountains of Tenn. "Caudell's Army" could well have been a company of 'irregulars" who joined Morgan's command, and attached themselves to the 13th/16th Battalion Georgia Cavalry; hence the reference to the 13th Cavalry, CSA.

If you have any suggestions or additional information on Caudell's Army or the 13th Cavalry CSA, please share with me.

Thanks.
