Sources: UDC listings of the Marietta and other GA cemeteries; Charles Herbst’s 1873 listing of Kentucky Confederates buried in GA; listings and roster entries in Ed Porter Thompson’s History of the Orphan Brigade (1898); military rosters and service records for Kentucky Confederate units. Name spellings found in KY unit rosters are used.
Notes:
1. G.W.B. remains unidentified. There was no 25th regiment of Kentucky Confederate troops.
2. Carmack, Goor, and Miller are not identified in rosters of Kentucky Confederates. I.C. Carmack could possibly be John Carmack of the 7th Ky. Cav. There is no listing for any soldier named Goor in the index to Confederate service records in the National Archives. There are no G. Gores or Goores in the listing from Kentucky. Dr. Miller was the first burial in the Confederate cemetery, in the Hospital section.
3. Heath is also listed as being buried in the Confederate Cemetery at Resaca, GA.
4. Lt. Henry Clay McKay was on the staff of the First Kentucky “Orphan” Brigade.
