Thank you, Art Bergeron, for the information. This could be the key to a missing person in our family history. Our oral history has it that he was killed in the war, but there was bad blood anyway, both over the war and outstanding debt to a brother in the sum of thousands of dollars, then. he may have not wanted any contact anyway. His relatives were all Union officers. One brother was a business partner with him, timber, I think, in Chicot, before the war.
