Hi Mike -
the original image (apparent CDV?) was in an old trunk belonging to a great-grandniece of Col. John Griffith, Rolene Stewart. She apparently got it from her parents there in Kimble County, Texas.
The image's true identity was lost over the years by the cousins there in West Texas; they came to think it was an image of Col. John Griffith in his CSA uniform. The person in the figure does not resemble any known images of Col. John Griffith, however. Bruce Allardice helped me solve the puzzle and we are STILL searching for any image of Col. John Griffith in his CSA uniform!!!!! (whine, whimper, beg?)
I can email you more details about the image and also a jpg image of it if you want. Give me the best email address to use?
y.v.o.s.,
Kenneth Byrd
