Nice to hear from you, and thanks for your note. You bring up a very interesting point about the resemblance between JT and ELT which I was ruminating on just the other day.
No question the individual in the Confederate general's uni is James Trudeau, but the resemblance you mentioned is manifested even more strongly in another image I've seen.
You know the photo of ELT in hunting garb with rifle, that's published in ELT's autobiography of 1916? The owner of Hermitage Plantation sent me a color print of a self-portrait bas relief sculpted by JT c. 1859, in which the facial features, facial hair and hairline are so similar to the ELT pic that it made me wonder if the photo in the ELT book was actually JT. (Both he and his son were quite tall, slender and keen outdoorsmen/hunters.)
Of course I have no way of knowing if an inadvertant pic swap really occurred right under the nose of his son.
Just out of curiosity, what drives your interest in James deBerty Trudeau if I may ask? There aren't that many of us out here.
