Re: 1st. Mo.Cav. 1st. Mo.Brig. CSA

Judy Cloyd, In James W. Farleys book "Forgotten Valor" he list Elias Ross Co. E, George W. Ross Co. F. and Robert Ross Co. E but no James Monroe Ross. The 1st. Missouri Cavalry for most of TWBS fought as a dismounted unit it was only one unit of the 1st. Missouri Brigade CSA. One of the most complete list of soldiers of the 1st. Missouri Cavalry I have found is the Paroled Prisoner list from Vicksburg , it is found on the NPS Vicksburg site.My Grandfather who lost an arm at Allatoona, Ga. was not discharged because of his wound, once recovered he was back in the line, pretty stern stuff in that Army. The next time he was wounded and captured he was exchanged at Point Lookout in Md.(probably because one armd men were discharged in the Yankee Army)on his way back to
Mississippi with the other members of his unit he came upon the Battle of New Market in Virginia which they joined in and that is why the 1st. Mo. is listed in that battle.
