Re: 1st. Mo.Cav. 1st. Mo.Brig. CSA

Jim & Harvey, Thank you for your response. James Monroe Ross enlisted 9-1-1862, mustered out 1-7-1865. Don't know where he was mustered out but when he returned, his family were not in Newton County. He found them in Desoto, Jefferson Co., MO. He was living in Newton Co., MO at the time of enlistment. He had 3 brothers, all returning from the war. Thomas Jefferson Ross (b. 4-29-1841 AL) served in a CSA unit in TX, I believe 9th Cavalry or a unit associated with Indians. Harvey, I'd be interested in the George W. Ross you found, possibly could be James brother George Washington Ross, b. 4-4-1836 AL., although I believe he also served in a Indian unit in Texas. I obtained the information on James Monroe Ross from his obituary and a book "Civil War Soldiers of Madison County, Missouri by Geraldine Sanders Smith. Of course, this information probably was obtained from family members and may not be totally correct. Is there a way I can get a copy of James W. Farleys book, "Forgotten Valor?" I appreciate your help.
Judy
