Re: re Civil War deaths at hands of Bushwhacker

Mari,

You posted quite a bit of information on the Stephen Hill Family and in your memo you mentioned that you had quite a bit of research information available if I wanted it. Yes, I do. I went to Ancestry.Com and retrieved everything available on the Hill's, but I ran into a problem. I am having difficulty tying Stephen's father, John, to the Hill's of Pennsylvania; I have John Hill's father as Joseph Hill, DOB 1748). Joseph Hill was married twice. His first wife was Margaret Ackley and the second, Margaret Joy. Joseph Hill was born in Hillsborough, County Down, Ireland and died 24 Oct 1828 in Plum Run, Washington County, Pennsylvania. Do you have information that would either clarify this or perhaps show me the error of my ways.

Since you said you have been doing quite a bit of research about the Hill Family, are you in any way connected.

I haven't found any proof that Stephen Hill died in Nebraska. One of the relatives put a stone up, but when I talked to the caretaker at the cemetery, he told me that it was just a memorial and neither Stephen nor Anne (Anderson) Hill are buried there. The stone was erected in the past ten or so years. Past researchers could find nothing after the 1860 Census on Stephen Hill.

Thanks again for your help.

Jim
