I can't argue with you thats for sure. Counter Insurgency or what ever one choses to call it does not lead to the most polite behavior in those engaged in it. it does not seem to matter what the race, nationality or religion of the soldier or insurgents are the conflict between them wiil not always be "by the book".

I am fascinated by the Southern White men who became USV's. They numbered has you proably know over 100k not a small percentage of the total USV's. It seems one major reason they joined the Union was they did not care for slave owners nor conscription or it seems to be true for the 1st AL , 1st and 2nd NC and 1st Ark. I am wondering if the 1st Ark being Southners were more by the book in treating civilians vs the kansas troops who did not forget the days of "bleeding Kansas".
