There was a Robert O. Greene who served as a private in the 3rd Infantry Regiment (Robertson's), 6th Division, Missouri State Guard. He was from Saline County. The regiment of new recruits was enroute to join Gen. Sterling Price's army and camped near Milford, MO, on the Blackwater River. Nearly the entire regiment was captured on December 19, 1861, by a larger force of Federals. Greene was eventually sent to the prison at Alton, Illinois. I have no idea what happened to him thereafter, but I imagine he was paroled.
