There is a Capt. Casper Headrick listed with Co A Hunter's Regt, Missouri Cavalry. See pg 117 of Jim McGhee's Guide to Confederate Units which is a very good match to the time frame. (Jim lists him as being from Dent Co. see below)

Casper Headrick is found as a landholder in the 1850's in Bollinger Co. MO. Born abt 1823 in Georgia he is listed on the 1860 Census as a farmer with wife and kids in dwelling 323, Liberty Twsp, Bollinger Co MO. He has a number of BLM land grants registered in the Jackson MO office in Bollinger Co and one for 40 acres in Dent Co. (may be a transcription error?). He was snagged in the July 1863 draft registrations in Bollinger County, which may have precipitated his enrollment with Hunter. He has a quite lengthy CSR on Fold3 that I can't access but lists service with Fristoe's Regiment, Cavalry, Hunter's Regiment, Cavalry, Jackman's Regiment, Cavalry, Lawther's Partisan Rangers.

He apparently was captured as a citizen and shows up in the Myrtle Street Prison roll from Bolllinger Co. as of March 12 1863 captured in Stoddard Co. MO. He shows up again in a different roll as captured as citizen on Nov? 12 1862 in Dunklin Co. MO listing his residence as Bankhead Arkansas, which leads me to wonder if he was actually recruiting in SE MO.

There are 2 Headrick's, Francis M and George who were in about as much trouble as Casper from Perry Co. I believe they are younger brothers to Casper. There is also a "Frank" Headrick listed in the "History of Laclede, Camden, ... Dent Counties" 1889 pg 1047 whom I believe is Francis Headrick as above. He self reports being in "Company C" (no other unit given) and was at Helena, Pleasnt Hill, and Jenkin's Ferry, surrendering at Shreveport LA. Francis is listed as giving an oath in 07-14-1865 in Crawford Co. MO.
