Common name but best fit from a Missouri unit I can come up with tonight is Francis M Davis Capt. Co C 12th Regiment "Jackson County Cavalry" MO Cav. At the time of the order under the command of Col David Shanks, I believe. Would have been in Arkansas at the time. Shelby picked a number of these men to ride on his raid into Missouri in Sept/Oct 1863 thus Shelby may have had first hand knowledge of this Captain and Company. See again pg 98 of McGhee's "Guide"
