I'll dig up the xerox I have of the article that I cite and get back with regarding it. During the time frame I came across it I was scouring through all of the St. Louis newspapers regarding any item relating to the war (much as Bruce Nichols does for his book series). Could be I jotted down the wrong page or wrong newspaper).

Regarding Wilson's relationship with Morsey, that is easy enough to confirm. Just go to the material I cite regarding Morsey paying homage to Wilson. That Morsey had felt affection and respect for Wilson is undisputed, based on his remarks on the matter. Regarding the daughter, all we have is a nebulous statement that after Wilson's death her brother gathered up all of the correspondence she had from him.

You refer to Company F, and Company G. Those companies did not exist at the time of the Briscoe Farm skirmish. Morsey's battalion was not integrated into the 10th Missouri State Militia Cavalry (afterward redesignated 3rd MSM Cavalry) until later.

Morsey's Battalion was based in his home county at the time in question--companies A, B, and C. Regarding why Wilson would have been with the force that went after Henderson--Morsey said Wilson was. And, as you research the Civil War in Missouri more in-depth, you will find that it was entirely common for a commanding officer or nco to have men from multiple units with him for specific missions. If you are a colonel sending Captain Smith or Sergeant Jones out after hard-core guerrillas, are you going to limit him to just the men in his immediate chain of command, or are you going to send him out with picked men?

How many troopers were on the specific mission in question? Depends on which account you accept.
