Herb,

The 1889 Warren County history says on page 993 that the Briscoe farm and the nearby fort were four miles north of Marthasville. That is the most precise location clue I have seen on this.

The officers you named were in March 1862 all members of the 10th Cavalry MSM, which in May 1862 was changed to be the 3rd Cavalry MSM (new) to distinguish it from the 3rd Cav MSM (old), according to the State of Missouri "Annual Report of the Adjutant General for the State of Missouri For the Year Ending December 31 1865," pages 461-3. Frederick Morsey, who listed his address as Warrenton, was lieutenant colonel as of early May 1862 (I presume he as a major before that, but not certain); J. W. McFadden, who listed his address as Pendleton on the railroad in west-central Warren County, was captain and commander of Company F as of January 1862; and Fred. (for "Frederick," I would guess) Hackried, who listed his address as Warrenton, was second lieutenant also of Company F as of January 1862. Of course, he was the LT. Hookwright you indicated.
