I was just curious as to whether this research on J. Drury Pulliam ever came to any fruition? I am the Gr. Gr. Gr. Grandson of (Thomas) Drury Pulliam of St. Clair Co., Ill. and a cousin of J. Drury Pulliam. Many of the family were so named Drury Pulliam dating back to our Virginia ancestor of the name, and I have just recently read Mr. Woods' excellent book noting Benjamin Pulliam as his father, and his name as James Drury Pulliam. In southern Illinois there is a strong oral family tradition about the family assisting the Guerrilla's in Missouri during the war. In Pike County some of the family joined the Union Army, but most including my ancestor who was of Military age refused and held aloof. Many members of the family into which he (my S. Illinois Drury Pulliam) married were of the same political mind frame having uncles and even brothers serving in the Confederate Army. Anyway, just curious as to how far this has come. I have quite a bit of info. on the family, but again with Captain Pulliam it is still somewhat difficult to put ones finger on it, as there are many Drury Pulliam's in the clan. The males with the middle name Drury used it in preference to their given name. While in Illinois I heard Thomas Drury Pulliam referred to so often as "Drury" I did not know his given name for some years.
