Re: Ship Island Prison
In Response To: Re: Ship Island Prison ()

Thank you, I have record of my Grandfather being buried at Ship Island and he is on the list and Fort as William J Kerby/Kirby
His name was William Isaiah Kerby. I also have a letter written by him seven days before he died on the 24 of Dec 1864. (I sent his photo in uniform and letter to National Park) He explained he had been very sick for two months and this would be his last letter as he was dieing. I was hopeing there might be a record of the prisoners being documented as they loaded onto The Steamship Clinton. I heard most ships kept good passenger logs just in case they were sunk.
I know this was not a sight seeing trip, just grabbing for loose ends.
Also I was hopeing there might be records from the National Archieves like a list from a doctor or any mention of prisoners and there condition.
Someone might have research this information and I was just hopeing to find them. Thanks Mike Kirby
