Re: How to confirm soldier's service?

Thanks for the quick replies! True, Michael Vaughn was in his seventies at the time and apparently blind as well. The closest I found was a Colonel Deason in Company G of the 3rd MS Infantry.

Could anyone tell whether this regiment was in the Marengo County, AL area at any time in 1862? This is in central western Alabama, near the MS border.
