The Mississippi in the Civil War Message Board

John S. Cook

I discovered a photo in my late grandmother's photos. It is of a Confederate soldier in full uniform. On the back, very faintly, can be read; John S. Cook Drum Major, 21rst Memphis Volunteers. I'm trying to find out any info I can on this person. The name Cook is not in my family and we are thinking it is someone my great-grandfather or great great-grandfather served with as both served in the Confederate Calvary. Posting this here because they were from Mississippi. Any info or advice would greatly be apreciated. Thanks.
