Rob,

Thanks ever so much !!! I mentioned Thomas was quite the writer. He wrote poems, songs, and journals about his war experiences and travels out west ( Oregon Territory ) where he lived several years following the war. He wrote a poem " The Death of Laura Foster " about the Tom Dula ( Dooley ) affair in North Carolina. Family lore says he may have written some of the verses of the folk song made famous by the Kingston Trio. His oldest brother, Rev. Linville Land, reportedly made the coffins for both Laura and Tom. Thomas was promoted to 2nd Lt.at Gettysburg. His nephew, Capt William J. Miller of Co.K was killed on the first day. William's brother Thomas C. Miller became 1st Lt.and and their uncle,Thomas Land became 2nd Lt. Parts of his Civil War journal I've seen he speaks of hearing Stonewall Jackson's Chaplain " preaching in camp." He was an ordained Deacon and seems to have been a very committed Christain. He returnred to North Carolina shortly before his death ( abt 1912 I think ) In our library there is a HUGE book on the history and families of Wilkes County, North Carolina you might be familiar with. There is a photo of Thomas as an old gentleman with the caption " the poet, William Thomas Land. " William Thomas was actually his father's name ( my gr,gr,gr,grand-uncle.) Thank you again for your kind offer. My " snail- mail " : Glenn Land 2601 North John B. Dennis Hwy Apt.1607 Kingsport,Tenn.37660. God Bless you and yours !!!

Glenn
