My cousin and family genealogist Howard Douglass Land from Virginia ( our great-grandfathers were brothers,their father was a 1st cousin to Thomas ) sent me copies of 3 journals ( or diaries )by Thomas one before the war when he came to Monroe County, Tennessee to teach school,one during the war, and one afterward when he left for Oregon.
