Ol' Jimmy has been off the reservation a few times; he pardoned the draft dodgers who went to Canada, and gave away the Panama Canal. His attempt to free the hostages in Iran was a Chinese fire drill, but he at least tried. The first Johnson wanted to indict Lee, but Grant threatened to resign if he did, so there was no indictment. This may have had something to do with the "loss" of Lee's oath of allegiance. Since Eisenhower, we sailors have been well represented, at least in numbers: Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Nixon, Ford, and Carter were all Naval officers, as was Bush One. The Roosevelts were Navy Department Officials. Y'all can be for Clinton all you want, but he wrote a letter saying he "loathed the military", and his administration was not kind to us. He avoided the draft by going to Oxford. (He did not finish.) But enough of that. Stan
