You just hit upon something that I had not thought about. Does anyone know what the political structure of the Confederate government was? Was it a two party system? Or where all southerners just Democrats in the Confederacy?

I don't ever remember running across any political parties being mentioned in the Confederacy other than most of the south voted for Breckenridge as a Democrat in the 1860 election. Davis I believe was a Democrat while he was in the United States Congress. But what was he as President of the Confederacy?
