Re: Favorite Battlefield?

I was aware of the story of the Drummer Boy and some others associated with Shiloh. I also live in an area with a few 'spirits' from many time frames. I'm not a disbeliever, I just take it with a grain of salt. There are some things that I know in my life to be only explained by the 'unexplained'.
Hubby and I went to Shiloh on a November day about 12 years ago. It was cold, rather foggy and had been raining at times. The mist was eerie. That is explained. The Peach Orchard was bare of leaves and looked so empty. The area around Bloody Pond and the grave trenches was the place that we both looked at each other and agreed was so sad you wanted to weep. I felt gravitated toward the pond. Do not know why. It was just a pull. Sounds weird but that's what happened.
I did NOT feel anything like this at the little house or near the museum. Another strange thing happened on the way back to Tims Ford where we were staying. We were on the two lane, straight drop on one side road when an 18 wheeler came up behind us with a Battle Flag on the grill. It stayed on our rear bumper for miles and hubby was getting real nervous because we are flatlanders and are not used to mountain curves. As quick as it came up behind us, it was gone. Did not see it turn off. There was no road on either side. The thing just up and disappeared. It's still a mystery we are trying to figure out.
One other place we experienced a 'feeling' like this was at Andersonville. There were four of us and we went out on our own, not intended, just the place took over. The same four of us went back a couple of years later and it was almost as strong. We are normally rational, some might disagree, but this was not normal tour type stuff.
Vicksburg was interesting. It was in the early spring and we had done the Natchez Pilgrimage. The battlefield area is beautiful and well kept. The monuments were magnificent but that feeling from Shiloh and Andersonville was not there.
Another place that can give off 'vibes' is The Old Stone Fort near McMinnville, Tenn. Not CW, older than that.
