This is a closeup of the back ground of a formation of Co. G, 48th New York in garrison duty in Fort Pulaski, Ga., 62-63. I cut out the forground and blew up the back ground , in which in the original photo, you would not notice. It is most probably the first photograph or near first photograph of a baseball game. The batter is at far left ready to receive the pitch.
