I hear you. I like you think that most folks, NOrth or South do get along just fine.
I thot your post was funny. Didn't have to ponder on it to long. We need that from time to time.
As far as N B Forrest is concerned, what I know of him is that he was a great tactician. I have read stories about the Fort Pillow massacre and it seems that Forrest gets much credit for it. I don't think that there were any women or children there either. I have never read that anywhere. I think we all seek truth. Depends on who is writing the material I guess. I have a set of encylopedias pertaining to WWII written by the Swiss and I feel that since they were neutral during the war, that they are very honest and independent in their view of the war. THey go into great detail and let it all hang out, warts and all. That is the type of writing we have always needed on the events of that time. THe war between the states I refer to here.
I had one great grandfather on my maternal side who served with the 90th Illinois Infantry Regiment and suffered three serious wounds during the war. My other maternal grandfather did not serve but made a good living making mess kits for the Federal Troops. I respect one just as much as the other.
Concerning how many Mississippians are in New York, you will have to ask John, he is a Mississippian. I can tell you that we have so many Mexicans up here that they celebrate Cinco de Mayo day. Our county jail is packed with so many illegal aliens that you would not belive it at times.
Many times facts get so polluted that coming genarations accept them as fact when they are not.
There is a thread "Did Lincoln own slaves?". Well he did not. Mary's family did. I am going to post a resonse to that question a little later with sites. Read it, it is truth. that is what we all seek.
