My favorite one is Chesty Puller, when asking why a private was saluting alone on the parade ground, the captain said he was punishing him for failing to follow customs and courtesies. Puller marched the captain out to the private and informed him that for every salute rendered it should be returned, so the captain stayed for the next 3 hours returning salutes. I hope you understand that I attach no significance to my rank re: this board. That it is all meant in jest when I make reference to it and meant to show collegiality with others who frequent the board and their past military service. You can trust me when I say, there is no one less impressed with my rank than me. Especially in the Medical Corps, where you can't swing a stick without hitting 6 Light Colonels and 10 Majors.
