I'm not so sure about that medical non-combatant business, Colonel. Navy hospital corpsmen have been awarded more Medals of Honor, Navy Crosses and Purple Hearts than all other ratings combined. I don't know what they do to those young sailors in Hospital Corps "A" School -- I suspect they feed 'em raw meat -- but those guys are combat heroes in every sense of the word. Four men in my old Navy boot-camp company were killed in action in Vietnam -- three of them were corpsmen.
I suspect that your army medics have about the same record as our corpsmen.
BTW, I'm not in command of anything anymore. Since I retired, I answer to my wife, and she keeps me on a short leash. I guess it's payback for all the time she spent alone while I was yachting with Uncle Sam.
