That is very true. The other side of the coin is that besides the US,Haiti was the only other independent country in our hemisphere. Many of them became slave holders. As a matter of fact, we from time to time hear about the blacks in the south that were slave owners. Most of them were Haitians who lived in New Orleans. I have been reading the best book, the title being "The Age of Lincoln". It is a great read, I have only read the prologue and the first chapter but it is really good to see how things in this country developed. IF you get the chance, check it out at your local library and peruse it a little. I think you will like it. I have not read enough to do a review here yet but when I do, I will. FC
