I absolutely agree. While the Arkansas boys early on had a reputation of being rough and unruly to the Virginia crowds, once trained by proper military drill, they were fighters that didn't shurk a fight. You have to wonder about a fight so hotly contested that the muskets were "shot to pieces" out of mens hands. I remember reading the account of the old boy in the 2nd Arkansas Batt. at Beaver Dam Creek/7 Days Battle, who had the musket shot out of his hands by a cannon ball and he picks up another and keeps on fighting. I don't know about you but I think I would be headed to the rear after that happened to me.
