Re: A Hurricane Prayer from another time

Jamie, I like this. It reminds me of the comfort of the Navy Hymn, arguably the most beautiful and reverent of all American hymns:

Eternal Father, strong to save
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave
Who bid'st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep.
O hear us when we cry to thee
For those in peril on the sea.

I know there are many other verses for the various services, but the Navy version says it all to me, a land lubber.

Anyway, tat's from memory, so I don't know if it's exactly right. But when I used to watch the old Victory At Sea on TV as a kid in L.A. in the 50s, I really felt for the blue water Navy Even more so after I learned about the USS Indianapolis.

Man, I can't believe how many times you guys been hammered down there in the last few years.
