To this old salt, too, Mike. Though never ship's company, I've sailed the Atlantic and the Pacific, and watched an old jeep carrier used for target practice sink in the Med, like a rock. We had a swim call off a cruiser later that day, and it got to feeling kind of funny, thinking about an 800' ship swallowed without a hiccup...I got out of the water, glad to feel steel under my feet. Spent a week submerged on a nuclear sub once; it only bothers you if you see the needle on the depth gauge go behind the security block, which hides your actual depth. Whew! Stan
