The map room of the Friends of Fort DeRussy library suffered serious damage when two window panes blew out during the hurricane. Hopefully the damage will not be serious, but it is definitely disheartening. Lots of maps - mostly copies, thank goodness - but also quite a few original contemporary newspapers all got a good soaking, along with some other material. Leaving it alone for now, and hoping that when things dry out it won't be as bad as it looks. (Some of the ceiling fell out in the adjacent room, and part of the roof blew off over another adjacent room, so things could have been a lot worse. Things were kind of hairy for a while.)
