BUT, Davis was no different in that than Lincoln and many of our present day Presidents. It would seem to be human nature for a man who when he becomes "Commander-in-Chief" somehow becomes "Know-it-all in Chief".
Unlike Lincoln, Davis however, did have military training and experience to back him up in the US military Academy, and in that he had been Secretary of War. Davis' problem seemed to be with his personal attachments to past friendships or dislikes.
