No, in my opinion the oath required for ex-confederate veterans was not the model for the present Pledge of Allegience.

BUT, the present Pledge of Allegience could very easily be turned into such an oath as was administered to the ex-confederate veterans for the same purpose. And in some cases it is almost mandatory for young children to have to recite in schools, or at public functions and meeting and in even our Church programs where we declare our alliegience to that Flag before we declare our alliegience to our God. The SCV makes it a part of their ceremonys in order to "declare" their "loyality".

And if one does not participate in that mandatory recite of the Pledge of Allegience watch the adverse reaction which you will recieve because you are precieved as being anti-American and unpatriotic.
