First of all, there was no "civil war" and it is not possible to write a balanced and logical article without understanding that point.
Before, during and after the War Between the USA and the CSA, the U.S. Constitution had/has been thoroughly trashed. Had the Confederacy won independence, there would have been a chance of rescuing the Constitution (C.S. Constitution based upon the U.S. Constitution).
No regional differences were resolved by that war other than the abolition of slavery, which was destined to end anyway. It was a war of conquest, a war of attrition and the invaders won. This nation was founded by brave people who fought against tyranny and nothing good came about when brave Americans lost a war against tyranny.
