My definition of "Civil War" is, a group in a country trying to overthrow the central government of that country. Again I say this is only my definition, I am sure there are many. This argument has gone on for 150 years, and it most likely will never be resolved. You have your opinion and I have mine. I will never convince you and you will never convince me. That is what this country was founded on, freedom of speech, and freedom of belief. But do we have freedom of speech now? The answer is no. but then again this is opening another can of worms. Do we have the freedom belief now? the answer again is no. but again that is another controversy that will continue forever. But who knows if it had been better if the south had won. No one knows for sure we each have our own opinion, my opinion is it is possible. Look at reconstruction, the monster politicians that came from that, the argument can go on and on forever. I am not still fighting the war, in words and beliefs yes. I will continue to do so until the day they lay me under the ground. I am not implicating overthrowing the government, all I want is for the schools to teach more of the facts, and governments to not ban me from flying my Confederate Flag because it might offend someone that lives 100 miles from me. I also do not want to feel like I am offending anyone with my Confederate Veterans tag on my truck. But it is the fact that people try to convince me and the rest of us southerners that we are wrong, that makes me not care if I offend anyone or not, I am going to have my SCV tag on my truck as long as I am still driving.
Let me and the other people from the south have our heritage. But that is like everything else, the politically correct people are not wanting us to have anything to show how proud we are of our heritage. What the war was fought over is not that important now, but do not try to force the fact that it was solely over slavery on us. This whole conversation IS going nowhere. There are enough things for an individual to pick out of the whole story to make any argument he would want. But that does not make the whole story true. Let us all look at the WHOLE story and form our own opinions, I will not try to force my opinions on others so therefore I do not expect them to force their opinion on me. Have a good day!
