My great-great-great grandfather served in the 6th Ill Cavalry starting in the spring of '64. For a while I thought he had been present for Franklin and Nashville, but it now seems that he may have been in a hospital during the fall of '64 (first in Memphis and then in Nashville).

Does anyone know of ways to research where he might have stayed and for what reason? I have his muster rolls from the National Archives, but they are not very specific. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
