A minor point:

The 113th Illinois Regiment was involved in the pursuit of Forrest command after it crossed the Tennessee. Morton's Tennessee Battery inflicted a good bit of damage on an amphibious landing attempt at Eastport, Miss., Oct. 10, 1864. If this man's record says he was wounded on that date and place, the treatment he received probably came in the form of a shell fragment delivered by one of Dr. Morton's artillerymen.
