I suggest you try the tax rolls for Robertson, Falls, and Limestone Counties, as well as Hill County. The tax rolls for the aforementioned counties in Texas are from places where men of Company "E" Likens' Regt 35th Texas Cavalry lived. Limestone, Falls, and Robertson Counties had the section where these men lived redrawn, hence the need to check all three. The tax rolls for Limestone & Robertson are in alphabetical order by surname so the task will not be as difficult as it might seem.
Could you please send me a photocopy of the pension? I am working on a regimental history and working on a roster of men who served in the unit.
Best wishes,
William Bozic
BTW. Likens' Regt never served in the lower Rio Grande Valley, but did serve along the Texas Gulf Coast and in Louisiana. I saw the reference to the lower Rio Grande Valley in a recent posting and just wanted you to know.
