Re: Col Cook & Galveston Artillery

You're right, Ed, it is entertaining! Chubb's reputation is pretty colorful, even by Texas standards. Apparently he went back to New England, at least part time, and died there. He is reported to have stipulated that he wanted to be bured in a Confederate Flag and this was done. Fremantle also seems to state that Colonel Cook had been a U.S. Navy officer. Is this true? If so, his experience with Naval ordinance would make him a good choice for a heavy artillery unit. CSN officers often seem to pop up in such positions. Looking forward to your new book!
