Re: Henry D. Acthinson, Denton Co; Darnell's 18th

John David Actkinson was buried in the Leadhill Cemetery with no marker. He was later moved when the Buffalo Shoals Reservoir was built in the early 1950's. The graves in the Leadhill Cemetery were relocated to the Milum Cemetery north of the town of Leadhill.

I believe that this is our John here in Denton, Texas.

1. The 29th Texas Cavalry was recruited from Denton, Texas.

2. In 1870 there is a Henry and Sara and Thos. In Denton there is a Thomas and in the family next door

there is a Sarah and a Henry. Since the Civil war happened between 1860 and 1870, I am sure that many people died during this time and relatives took on other relatives children to raise.

3. Many people call John, JJ for short

4. The name Actkinson is spelled many different ways on the census.

1860 Texas, Denton Pg.445
Atkinson, JJ 24 TN
Ellen 63 SC
Susan 40 TN
Thomas 8 TN
This family is next door. Also found a marriage of James Actkinson and Elizabeth Anderson 10-25-1855 in the county of White, TN. White county is right next to De Kalb county inTN. I believe these two families are related somehow. They could be brothers.
Atckinson, James 35 TN
Elizabeth 30 TN
Millard 4 TN
Sarah 2 TN
Henry 6/12 TX

1850 Tennessee, De Kalb, District 14 Pg.47
Ackason, Henry 53 SC
Elender 52 SC
Henry 18 TN
John D 14 TN

I never could find Henry in the 1860 census or 1870 could he have died in the civil war?
