Could the name you are looking for be HARPER, rather than Harris?
Capt Thomas L M Chipley's Co; formerly Capt Addison Harper's Co; subsequently Co C, 17th Bn Va Cav and afterwards Co C, 11th Regt Va Cav; co enlisted in 1861 by Capt Harper and reorganized under Capt Chipley, April 22, 1862. After the company was assigned to the 17th Bn Va Cav, Capt Chipley was forced to resign and was succeeded by former Capt Harper.
