Re: Has anyone heard of Harris Company?

Johnny,

Yes, the John H. Boone you found, (has to be my G.G.G.G.
Grandgather).

But as for the John W. Boone. The only other Boone relative
living in that same location (was John H. Boone's younger
brother Samuel Lewis Boone; who had a son named John W. Boone;
but his son John W., was born after the Civil War, in 1875.)

So, I'm trying to "guess" who this other John W. Boone, might
have been...

It could be, that this other John W. Boone, could have been an
Uncle to my John H. Boone - the son of James D. Boon. But we
don't have any John W. Boone listed as a brother to our James.
But then again; we don't know much about James D. Boon's family
(other than, they originally came from Frederick Co, Maryland,
to Hardy Co, "Old" Va/W.Va, around the mid 1840s); because James
D. Boon, later works at the Baker's Run Post Office, as a Post-
master, by 1851, in Hardy Co, "Old" Va/W.Va.

Some say, James D. Boon was born in Pennsylvania, while other's
say Ohio. I'm almost "betting," that where he was probable born
during that time (in 1799/1800) part of "Old" Pennsylvania terr-
itory - but later "after the Civil War," later became present
day Ohio territory.

Now, about the "Mountain Rangers." What tasks (or) job duties
did they have, during the Civil War? I'm "assuming" it was to
stay up on top of the mountains "scouting for their so called
enemies "Union Soldiers." And keeping the mountain (clear of
overtakers of the other side)... This is just my guess... :)

Oh, if trees could talk. The HISTORY they could tell us all,
(especially during the Revolutionary and Civil War), huh?

Thanks again, for your time and help on this...
