The 1907 Alabama Census of Confederate Soldiers for Greene County lists
"Samuel Norwood, present Post Office address: West Greene, Ala; b 23 May 1840, at Hopewell (early designation for the area known as West Greene after 1870), Greene County, Ala; first entered service as Private on 9 Mar 1862 at Clinton, Ala in Co C, 43 Ala Regt and continued until surrender of Gen Lee at Appomattox C.H., Va 9 Apr 1865, and was discharged by parole 10 Apr 1865."
Noting on this census, looks like where these guys signed up often had nothing to do with where they lived.
