Hi Alan - You have been kind enough to help me before. There is a letter that mentions him being conscripted late in the war. Where would I look to find the unit he was consripted too? Also he was surrendered at Citonella so it appears as though he outfitted a calvary company early in the war left and then was later conscripted. We have family papers that talks about outfitting the company and then in General Hagan's rep;ort (James was a childhood friend from a letter we have between them, they went to the Mexican War together) he says he was "promoted to staff". James' business partner was Colin McRae, the CFO to Europe for the Confederacy. It looks like from his regignation to his conscription that he was helping with supplies in Alabama. Do you know who the quartermaster was that he may have delt with?

So the two questions are:
1.Where would I look to find the unit he was consripted too?
2. Do you know who the quartermaster was that he may have delt with?
