Re: R. Murphy's Militia Company

A VERY quick & cursory examination of the appropriate O.R.s suggests that there appears to be a "hole" in Capt. Murphy's Missouri career that might have allowed him to have been at Pine Bluff in late October, '63. But, R. T. McMahan describes these men as "a small company of Home Guards under Capt. Murphy" (p. 309); "Home Guards" suggests locals. . . . Just checked "Supplement to the O.R.s" (vol.35, a.k.a. serial no.47) for 5th Missouri State Militia (2d org.) & nothing suggesting presence of any 5th M.S.M. in Arkansas in October '63.
