Hello John: Don't know if you still have an interest in Capt. R. Murphy's Militia Company. Capt. Richard W. Murphy was born November 1819 in County Cork, Ireland; his wife was Catherine "Kate" Fitzgerald also of Cork. They married in Cork and emigrated first to Boston in 1850, thence to Maine and finally west to Missouri. Their eldest daughter Elizabeth was born in Cork, the remaining in Massachusetts, Maine and Missouri. He settled finally in Jefferson City, MO and his widow claimed his pension after his death. My upstairs neighbor (now 95 years old) is his great-granddaughter.
