Thanks so much for all the information. I cannot recall ever seeing a list of the
men that survived. 78 out of 2000 is certainly not many. Poor men!
I am pretty sure I have heard from the descendants of some of the survivors
through the years. One is at Beebe, just a few miles down the road from me.
There were two books in the works on the 8th, but to my knowledge neither has
been completed. Such a shame since those that lived had to be proud of their
accomplishment, thankful to just be alive.
I see by the list that J. D. Pearce is the only one left of the four Pearces that
started out with the 8th. One was killed at Shiloh. By chance, do you know what
happened to the other two Pearce men?
